Routes to Regen: NFL part of Sustainable Markets Initiative scheme
As the lead pig producer in Waitrose’s Farming for Nature programme, we are proud to combine high-welfare standards on our farms with sustainable farming practices. We are excited to be working with the Sustainable Markets Initiative’s Agricultural Hub to continue the spread of regenerative farming practices as part of their new Lighthouse Project, Routes to Regen.
This project aims to tackle some of the barriers, or in many cases the perceived barriers, around regenerative farming practices. Routes to Regen, managed by the Royal Countryside Fund, will support farmers in accessing partners such as ourselves who they can work with to develop sustainable working practices on their own farms.
In the 18th Century, Coke of Norfolk pioneered rotational farming here in Norfolk and our existing partners include our outdoor pigs in their rotation to great effect. With our pigs adding tremendous organic matter to the land they’re on, and the wider farm, we are proud to be part of a traditional and sustainable farming practice in this way.
We are excited to work with new partners across the region to produce high-quality, high-welfare food in a sustainable way which mutually benefits both our businesses.
